We started out our morning walking along the beach at our hotel.
Chris got to fly one of his kites for a bit, but there wasn't too much
wind. The day proved to be a gorgeous and warm one.
We spent some time down at the Hatfield Science Center in Newport and then went to Seal Rock looking for tide pools.
The kids always find the most interesting things on the beach.......
Hatfield Science Center:
Aeva had to get another picture of the Japanese floating dock that beached itself in Newport from the Tsunami.
Myles got to touch the octopus. Last time he had waited and waited for it to come out of its hiding spot, but it never did. This time he actually got to have one of its arms wrap around his arm. We learned that an octopus can control each suction cup individually. Amazing!
Seal Rock:
The rock had tons of seagulls, but I spotted one lonely Cormorant.
We did find some tide pools. Myles and Chris fed the sea anemones muscles, and Myles really enjoyed that.
Aeva kept trying to get a great picture of the waves crashing on this rock, but she couldn't quite manage it. It was really cool. Meg and I got our pants and feet soaked because we didn't move fast enough as the water came up.
Aeva found a purple starfish.
We were beat at this point, ready to fill our tummies, and the littles were wanting to go swimming. So, we headed back to Lincoln City to change, eat some chowder, fish, and chips, and get ready for a dip in the pool.
