We've had quite an event filled week.
Let's start with Myles:
This week Myles was invited over to play at a new friend's house. His friend's name is Kayden, and Myles met him at the 4th of July get-together. His family is now in our ward. We've actually known them for quite some time, but they moved out of our ward when Myles was a baby so they are new to him. While at Kayden's house the two of them had a water gun fight and happened to disturb a wasp's nest. Myles was stung twice by a wasp; on the forehead and on the wrist. He was a trooper. He didn't want any Benadryl or Tylenol. Kayden's mom had iced the spots and put some lavender and frankincense on as well. After an hour or so the swelling went down and he was in less pain.
On Friday Myles turned nine. I don't even know where that time has gone.
He and Chris went and had their Red Robin birthday burgers and then went down to walk along the Columbia River. While there they came across this beetle which gave Myles a bit of a jolt when he went to pick it up. These beetles make a hissing noise. It is a 10 Lined June Beetle.
Rhaevyn and Aeva made him a card for his birthday and his cake.

Chris got him a new aviator hat. He loves his other one from Oma, and has worn it so much, that it is getting holes in it.

Rhaevyn also got him a Jurassic World cup, and Elsa made him a notebook.
We've had an abundance of zucchini from our garden, and Myles wanted to make a special dish with them. Last night I helped Myles make Ratatouille. Here he is slicing up some yellow zucchini.
I was pleasantly surprised at how easy and tasty it was, and that most of it got eaten.
Aeva:
has been making paper children. Last night I sat down with her, and she taught me how to make one. It was actually pretty fun. While I thought mine would turn out horrible, it came out pretty cute (sorry I did not take a picture of it).
Rhaevyn:
went down to play her violin at the Farmer's Market on Saturday. She made it all of 10-15 minutes before someone came over and told her she had to actually sign up to play. She looked over at the line to sign up and decided against it, as I had not planned on being at the Farmer's Market all day long. Apparently, you can only play for a certain amount of time, and you can't just pick your spot. I saw where they were going to put her................worst spot ever!!!!! So she packed up her violin. At least she gave it a try. We are trying to come up with another plan.
Elsa:
is loving the trampoline. Actually, all the kids are. I love hearing the giggles when they are on it. Sometimes one will go out by themselves and just lay on it, or read, or draw.
Chris put a tarp over it so on hot days they don't get burned to a crisp and are provided some shade.
We all went out and jumped on it the other night. I loved hearing the laughter and giggles that abounded.

Meg:
Some friends brought over some blueberries. This is a favorite treat around here. Meg got a hold of the container and was pretty possessive of the blueberries. If the kids snuggled up to her and asked nice she would dole out a blueberry one at a time to them. The blueberries lasted all of 10 minutes before they were all gone.

Meg's big toe was attacked by a can of pureed pumpkin, and the can won. This was two days after she had cut her little toe on something and left a trail of blood everywhere she went. Her little bloody toe print was all over the kitchen floor, the living room, on one of the benches in the kitchen, Myles's bedroom, and her bed. We finally discovered her toe was bleeding, and got it taken care of.
Back to her big toe...............this happened Wednesday evening, and by Saturday evening it was looking worse. Her nail was being lifted up, and the skin was bulging out the top. It was very blackish looking. We took her in, and an x-ray was done. Thankfully she had not broken her toe, and we were told that her toe was bulging because the clotted blood was looking for a place to go. Yesterday she got down off the couch to dance to some music. When she put her foot down to do a bit of stomp blood went everywhere.....................that blood found a place to go alright!!! Poor baby, she immediately started to scream. We got her calmed down, but it bled for a bit longer. Her toe is looking so much better.
This was taken right after she dropped the can on it.
These are the quilt tops that Rhaevyn and I have been working on. I really need to stop for a while and actually put quilts together.
Rhaevyn's pinwheel quit top.
My two strip quilt tops.
Here is a preview of one side of the card that will be pinned to the quilts. A sweet lady from our old ward was so happy to come up with this for me. I just gave her a general idea of what I wanted. The other side will have an explanation of the project and the Facebook page. She has kindly volunteered to pay for the printing of the first batch. With this, and more quilts starting to come in, it's seeming very real.
This week the girls are off to camp. I am excited for them, but I sure miss when our home is not filled with my little chicks. Rhaevyn keeps asking what I will do when they have grown up and left the house. Miss them.............................I will miss the daily hugs and kisses, the laughter, their voices, and, yes, even the temper tantrums. Time just flies by so quickly..........and I really wish it wouldn't.
These are the notes I made for Rhaevyn and Aeva. I like to send them off with a little treat to let them know I'll be thinking of them while they are gone. To make it personal I made two paper children, or Chibi, of myself and got them their favorite candy..............cause you know, chocolate makes everything better :)
