I get cute little bouquets like these several times a week.
My two little ones like to pick the poppies from the little tuft of land out front. They were actually planted by our neighbor a couple of years ago, but they have now started growing on our side.
Myles caught this really big moth. It had landed on our front window, and then it flew into one of the trees out front. He tracked it down and caught it. It was very interesting looking up close.
This was taken on Father's Day.
Chris with four of his greatest blessings.
Here is Myles sleeping in the tent that Rhaevyn made for him in the living room.
The girls made tents the night before and slept in the living room.
I spent one day cleaning all the patio chairs, sweeping the back patio, and pulling out the picnic table.
We had dinner that night outside. Here are Myles and Elsa eating their dessert before cooling off with the slip and slide.
That's about all the news here. The kids are just enjoying summer :)
We started our Friday out at Thanksgiving Point at the Museum of Ancient Life.
That was a lot of fun. The kids had a blast.
Then we stopped in at The Lehi Roller Mills to pick up some blueberry muffin mix, and I had to stop at Broadbent's just to see if they had an apron that sparked my interest and also to see exactly what Broadbent's was all about. It was a cute store, but no apron that screamed "buy me." Which was probably for the best. Then of course we had to eat at In and Out because we don't have one here in our neck of the woods.
To Hill Museum we went. Here are a few pictures that we took.
Then before heading to the hotel we had to stop at Smith and Edwards. The kids didn't think they'd like it, but boy were they wrong. Everyone found a way to spend the money Oma had sent them at that place. It was probably a good thing we went when they were near closing time.
We arrived at our hotel and quickly got changed so that we could go have fun at the onsite water park.
There is nothing like going down a water slide when it is pitch dark inside the tube. Great fun!
We wore ourselves out, had dinner and went to bed.
After breakfast the next morning we hit the water park again. Great timing as no one was there yet. Chris, Rhaeyvn, and I got to go down the slide lots of times without having to wait in a long line.
Alas, the time came to get going. Boy did we have a great time.
This is a video of the outside of the hotel where you can see the water slide.
The last leg of journey was traveling back to Idaho. We had a spaghetti feast with the Lindsay Family at Matt's house. Aeva and I got a pedicure, given by Leslie, and then we left for home Sunday early afternoon.
What a wonderful family vacation we had. Lots of site seeing and lots of laughs. An all around great time. We didn't' get to see everything or everyone (that's you Sam and Karen) that we would have liked to, but then I suppose that is good because it gives us a reason to go back.
We hope you've enjoyed taking a look back at our road trip.
So, Aeva is now the proud owner of her very own organ. Chris found this one for free. Originally when he called on it, the lady said it had already been spoken for, but said she'd keep our phone number in case the people didn't come pick it up. Then he and Aeva went to look at another one that had three keyboard tiers. It was really nice, but the 90 year old lady is having a hard time parting with it. She has kept our number as well, in case she changes her mind. Luckily for us, the first one Chris called on was not picked up. It arrived yesterday thanks to the help of two great people from church.
Needless to say, Aeva is on cloud nine.
Today was the big day for Aeva's tour of the BYU Carillon.
After climbing 99 steps plus a couple more steps on a step ladder, she was treated to several songs, and then she got to hit the lowest note and the highest note.
I loved listening to this. What a treat!
Myles, Elsa and I sat by the waterfall and pond area. I didn't think it wise to take them up the spiral staircase to view the carillon. We had fun watching the little ducklings and listening to the music.
After hearing that "Steven" was graduating in August and there wasn't anyone to take his spot, Aeva decided that we should move to Utah now so she can start taking lessons to play the carillon.
Oh if only it were that easy. She says her minds made up.............BYU Utah is where she is going and to learn to play the carillon is her goal (among other things).
After the tour, we met Alayna (The babysitters of all babysitters) at the bookstore, and the girls spent about three hours getting a tour of the campus given by her. They had the best time ever doing that.
W met up with them later at the Bean Life Science Museum. The kids had fun looking at all the bugs and animals.
After a day on the BYU campus we headed to none other than Chuck-a-rama. I had to get my fill of scones and honey butter while in Utah. We met Samantha's family there and were treated to dinner. Let's just say...........I got my fill and then some. I had to hold a bowl on my lap the whole way back to Sam's house.
Samantha, Me, and Linda
We got a great history lesson from Sam's dad who served in the Korean War and was part of the Battle of Chosin Reservoir. We got to look at his scrapbook of his war experience and ask him questions. It was really neat.
Then it was off to bed as we were heading north the next day.
Up Next: Thanksgiving Point, Hill Museum and Fins and Grins.
Wednesday on our way out of Salt Lake we hit up the Distribution Center.
That was a lot of fun.
Then it was on to BYU!
We got a 40 minute golf cart tour of the campus, watched a 15 minute movie, and then we roamed the campus as much as we could with a tired little one. After eating there we did some shopping at the BYU Bookstore and viewed two art exhibits that were amazing.
After bugging a student at the Fine Arts Center, we made our way to the office where we could inquire about a tour of the carillon. Chris was given the cell phone number of the organ professor who actually teaches classes for the carillon and then was given the cell phone number of the student who currently plays it (Steven). Steven called us back and told us to meet him at the foot of the bell tower the next day at 11:50 and we'd get our own tour. Exciting!!
We were pretty pooped at this point, so we headed to Sam Grabert's/The Dumas's house.
They were so sweet to let us bunk up at their house. The kids had a grand time playing with thier kids. We were well fed and well taken care of. We couldn't have asked for more gracious hosts.
I took this picture because I loved the quote and I knew I'd forget it otherwise.
