Temple Square: Part 2

Our second day in Salt Lake City was mainly spent at Temple Square.
We went to all the visitor centers, walked around the temple, went to the Beehive house, Joseph Smith Building, organ recital, and The Conference Center.
The little ones, by the end of the day, were tuckered out. We didn't make it to the Church History Museum, the little cabin next to it, or the Family History Center. Oh well, guess that will have to wait until next time.









The kids loved seeing the replica of the Salt Lake Temple.
Aeva wants one just like it to put together.









Aeva and Chris really enjoyed the organ recital.........Rhaevyn not so much, but I can understand since the organ is not "her" instrument.

 

While the three of them attended that, Myles, Elsa and I went across the street and played in the water some more at City Creek Center.

 

I know the Conference Center is big, but you can't quite get  the scope of it until you are actually there.
It is an amazing building, and we very much enjoyed the tour. Unfortunately, my camera batteries died, but at least it was near the end of the tour.

We had dinner across the street at the mall and shared the best milkshake ever!!!! Banana pudding milkshake. Just like the dessert my mom used to make with vanilla pudding, bananas, and Nilla wafers. Oh so good!

After a stop at the nearest DI, and a couple of purchases later, we were back at the hotel and off to the pool/hot tub. Not many attempted the pool this night. The hot tub was full with our family.

Hello Utah: Part 2 of Day 1

So, after filling our tummies with goods we had taken from the breakfast provided by the hotel, we headed out to Pioneer Heritage State Park.
Side note: On this trip we really had to learn the grid system. I had not bothered getting maps because I figured with a gps, who needs maps? Apparently, our gps does not like Utah and was totally confused by the addresses. I am sure the experience of finding our way around Salt Lake grew our brain.
Okay on with our tour of the park.....

We decided to take the little tour train around the park first.
Then we walked the little town. Unfortunately a lot of the buildings were not open yet, but it was still fun.

Inside the Henry Draper home there was this huge, and I mean huge, bumble bee.
I felt so sad he was stuck.

 The kids got to try things out like beating the dust out of rugs and tilling the garden.

 I should be thankful that my house is as big as it is. This family raised 7 children in this little cabin.

 The little kids got a ride on the ponies. The only one who lasted was Aeva.Once they started moving Myles and Elsa wanted nothing to do with them.





















Myles loved holding and petting the baby chicks.

 


The kids were itching to get to the gift shop.














On the way back to the hotel we went to City Creek Center.
One word: Amazing!!

 


 
 

 The girls were so excited to see the horses and carriage. I came out of the bookstore, and they were practically yelling with delight for me to turn around. I will admit, this is not what I was expecting.

The kids had a blast playing in the water while I went to Deseret Book.
Then it was back to the hotel to go swimming in the ice cold pool.
Aeva was the only one brave enough at first to get in.
A majority of us pretty much hung out in the hot tub.
