Can You Say Blond?

I kind of feel like Anne, in Anne of Green Gables, when she dies her hair, but it comes out green. And Marilla says something to the tune of "Do you see where your vanity has gotten you?"
Yes, I see very well. In fact I think I could see just fine in a dark room with my new hair color :P

Well, I am finding the silver lining, or should I say the gold lining, in my new hair color. So, I redid the section of hair that I did on Thursday night. Now, you might think to yourself...... the color looked fine from the previous post. But, what the picture does not show is that the whole back section actually looked the color of the picture above. So, I was two toned, but not in a good way. Last night I donned the cap, pulled chunks of hair through the holes, plastered on the mixture, and waited with bated breath.... hoping, crossing my fingers, and saying a big prayer that at least it would match the back portion.
And, well, my prayers were answered. It does match. At least it isn't green, and you certainly cannot see any white hairs now. It's just going to take some getting used to.
I got a thumbs up from Rhaevyn and Aeva. They think it looks a lot better than it did.
Myles says it looks beautiful. And Chris hasn't changed his opinion....I look great no matter what.

Someone at church said "Wow, trying out a new look?" At least I can laugh about it and say, "Yup!"
This statement made me chuckle...."If your husband likes it that's all that matters, because he has to look at you all the time."
It's just hair, and I am grateful that I have hair.

I'd Like To Thank........

Chris for over doing it on my highlights last night.
In my vanity I had Chris help me highlight my hair.
The kids love to see how many white hairs they can find, and I had a nightmare the other night
that I was pulling out white hair after white hair.
While I am not against white or gray hair, I don't feel I've reached the point of embracing it.
I will when I have grand kids. By that point I will consider my white hair a badge of honor.
But, being still in my 30's (barely), I want to hold on to the blondness.
Anyway, Chris usually helps me with the back of my hair because I am just not coordinated enough to pull strands of hair through the cap while holding a mirror with the other hand and seeing the reflection in the second mirror.
After looking at the end result last night I deduced that my sweet man pulled chunks of hair and not small strands of hair through the cap, and that he glomped all the solution at the crown and back of my head. Myles said I still looked beautiful, but the girls wanted to know "Mom, what are you going to do about that????!!!!!"
One of them said it looked like I had a banana at the back of my head.
So, today I devised a plan. I decided to get most of it cut off.
The gal cutting my hair said it really was not that bad and that the back actually looked really good. So in other words she was saying Chris did a really good job, and that I had failed on the part I did.
Chris will appreciate that.
In the end I am so glad that my hair was, in my words, ruined! Because I sooooo love my new hairdo. The gal put a lot of layers in, gave me some bangs, and told me to re-highlight the part that I did.
So, Thank you dear, for my new look!

In a nut shell this is what we have been up to.........
school, piano-- violin-- organ lessons, rehearsals for the upcoming church Christmas play (Nutcracker) that Myles and Aeva are in, YW projects and activities and genealogy. Rhaevyn is excited to take a bunch of names to the temple. She and Chris are going to make a date of it.
Things are busy, but will somewhat slow down after the holidays.

Elsa has had a fascination with my makeup lately, which in some cases can be disastrous.
It's a good thing she is so darn cute!

Last Friday it was so blustery.
It actually looked like it was raining leaves from our tree. I turned to look out or front window and a barrage of leaves came right towards me. It was very cool.

I can't believe that Thanks giving is just about upon us. Then Christmas and a whole new year will be at our doorstep.

Rounding Out The Week

Today was a busy one.
Rhaevyn had a self defense class bright and early at church followed by a service project, and while she was at church Aeva had her very first organ lesson there as well.
We have found a sweet lady from our church, who we learned through the grapevine, gives lessons. She is in our Stake, but a different ward. We feel extremely blessed that she does this for free. It is a six week course. We met her for the first time today, and she is so nice. She thinks Aeva can learn to do the pedals too, so we are getting her her very own hymn book because she will have to learn to write in the pedals. I got to listen to her play a bit. When she was finished she had this huge smile from ear to ear and was talking to me in organ lingo. She does this a lot with piano too. I feel like she is speaking a foreign language because I really don't know anything about music. Ah, but I am so excited for her and impressed with her determination to learn this new instrument. So, five more lessons to go.

Rhaevyn learned some impressive self defense moves, and was about to show us a move on Aeva, but I thought that might not be a good idea. We don't want any broken fingers for our pianist.

Later today I went to our ward's Soup-er Saturday. Lots of soup and visiting, with a free craft thrown in to boot. I decorated this can and inside there is a packet of hot cocoa, a small bag of marshmallows, three starlight mints and a chocolate dipped spoon. So fun and fast to make.

Then I came home and made this one.
It is a birthday present for one of the kids in a family that Chris home-teaches.

It's got a cute hand sanitizer, lip balm and
a bunch of Bazooka gum in it.

Then to round out the evening Aeva, Elsa and I watched our favorite
Saturday night show..... Lawrence Welk.
Just thought I'd leave you with a bit of entertainment....

Latest Craft Project

I am so excited about this craft project. I just finished decorating these cans.
I borrowed one of those nice can openers that takes the entire lid part off.
My fridge is full of Rubbermaid containers of soups and various cuts of pineapple now.
Now that the cans are decorated, I just need to fill them and super glue the lids on.
Whoever gets a can just needs to use the pull tab to take the lid off to reveal what's inside.
This really was fairly simple and a lot of fun. Best of all.... I already had paper and ribbon on hand to use for decorating.

Halloween 2011

Halloween day was pretty busy with school work, then getting everybody ready and dressed in their costumes, and doing last minute costume tweaks and sewing projects.
I am glad that I did pictures early in the day.

We were so blessed this year with friends giving us pumpkins and
our sweet neighbor had the kids, minus Rhaevyn, come over and
pick out costumes out of their old costumes for Halloween.
Myles was so excited to find a Batman costume, and Elsa picked out a witch hat.
We thought the M&M costume was perfect for Aeva.
Rhevyn's best friend talked her into coming over one night and looking through her family's costume container, where she found the bee outfit.

We picked Rhaevyn's best friend up yesterday to go trick-or-treating.
When we got home, Myles curled himself up on the couch and fell asleep after two bites of pizza and complaint of a sore throat. He woke up just before Chris headed out with the girls, only to walk himself to his bed with chattering teeth. Poor guy had a fever and missed out on the fun of going house to house and receiving candy. He slept most of the evening, waking up for a few minutes here and there. He did not appreciate my costume one bit. In between sobs he would tell me firmly if I was going to continue coming in his room to check on him to take the costume off. I felt so bad for him. Poor guy.
The girls were all sweet to donate some of their candy to him, and two of our neighbors sent home king size candy bars for him.
All in all it was a fun night, and the girls had fun at all the spooky houses around our neighborhood.
