A Belated Birthday and a Snowstorm

Last night we got an unexpected snowstorm.

Well, unexpected to me at least. I had listened to the weather report yesterday morning and heard no mention of snow. So at about 2-2:30 pm when little snowflakes came twirling down in the air and then turned into big fluffy cotton ball sized snowflakes we were pasting our noses to the windows.

I love the snow when I don't have to go anywhere in it.

Elsa could see the snow falling and made a B-line for the window and pulled herself up to observe this white stuff falling from the sky.

Since Aeva didn't get the full effect of her birthday last week, I brought home some pink )her favorite color) frosted cupcakes and stuck nine candles on so we could sing to her and she could make her birthday wish and blow them out.

A Birthday, Christmas and a Visit from Family

We had a wonderful week with my mom, dad, Ben and Stacey.
The week went by way too fast, and we wished the time had gone by a bit slower.
I am being a bit lazy at the moment, so the pictures may be a bit out of order.
We had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner thanks to mom and dad.
Ben was the designated cornflake crusher for the potato bake.

And he also helped with the green beans.

Stacey was kind of enough to do the pouring of the Martinelli's.

Time to eat.

I am always surprised at how long it takes to get dinner ready,

and then the eating part is all over in 20 minutes.

Christmas day arrived.......

Our Miss Aeva turned nine this past week.

She is known as our Winter Solstice baby around here.

She didn't get to enjoy her birthday much, as she had been running a 100 degree temp for two days straight. She felt well enough to open presents,but she refused her birthday cake.

She must have not felt well for that to happen.

No blowing out candles either.

She loved all her presents and made out like a bandit.

We are happy to announce that by Christmas day her temperature was finally gone and she was on the mend.

She is now just trying to get over her cough.

Schoolwork is done for two weeks. We made goal for all our subjects. Yeah!
Now it is time to relax, play, and visit with family.
There aren't too many pictures this time around.
I didn't have much time for that as schoolwork kept us busy this week.

Aeva got some yummy cookies from her piano teacher this week.

I made two binky strings. I have to say I love them.
The green one makes me crave chocolate and mint every time I look at it.

Saturday morning we had a knock on the door and a surprise visitor on our doorstep.
There were shouts and screams of jubilation from the kids and us adults of course......

Uncle Ben came to hang out with us for a while and to Aeva's joy he played the supermarket game with us at Safeway. However, it didn't quite work as well as the last time.....we were missing Auntie Stacey :(

Pianos and Soccerballs

We have one more week of school left before Christmas break.
We are excited and ready for some playtime.

I know I've said it before, but I just want to express how much I love having my kids home with me and homeschooling them. I think I learn more from them than they do from me. I love watching the interactions of the older ones with the younger ones.
I believe they have a unique bond, and I truly feel blessed and honored to witness it day in and day out.....laughter, hugs and kisses with a few punches thrown in there for good measure by none other than our Mr. Myles.

This week was Aeva's last week of piano lessons for the year.
She had her piano recital yesterday.
We thought she did pretty good for only having a month of lessons.

Myles loved the part when he got to clap after each person's song.

Myles is still thoroughly enjoying his soccer class.

He can be such a character. When we leave to go home he runs over to give his teacher a hug goodbye.

The week before last we were about out the door when he told me we couldn't leave until he said goodbye to his teacher. I reminded him that he had already done that, but he insisted we had to go back.

So, he ran to tell her goodbye and give her another hug.

At least she sees he has a soft side after plowing some of the kids over in his class.

I love watching Myles during warm up.

Okay, okay, I just love watching him period!
