So, I just returned from a two and half day stay at what I call the "spa-spital."
2 1/2 blissful days filled with the precious sound of a newborn cry. I so enjoyed my stay at the hospital, which I know sounds weird to some. What isn't to love?? I am waited on, totally nurtured, the food is awesome, and I get to lounge in a jacuzzi tub. It just don't think it could be any better.
I'll give a rundown of the events over the last few days.
Monday I went in to see my midwife. Let's just say I was a little less than happy to hear that, still, nothing was happening. So, I opted to make an appointment to be induced. This was partly because I just didn't think I could make it another day (I was a week past my due date), and we are loosing our current insurance coverage.
The induction appointment was for 7:00am the next day.
I had pretty much tried to come to terms with having to be induced. As much as I had in mind how I wanted things to turn out labor wise, I always know that it doesn't always go as one would hope, like or plan. Besides, it is more important that the baby is healthy.
At 10:00 pm Monday night I started having contractions. I didn't give it too much thought, as this had been happening for two weeks now. The contractions would start and usually stop after an hour. However, by midnight I pretty much new this was the real deal. We ended up getting to the hospital at 2:00 am and our little bundle of joy came into this world at 3:10 am.
We couldn't believe how fast it went. Chris was very glad that we made it to the hospital and that he was not on the next days news recounting a birth in the minivan.
The moral of this whole story, which is one I am still struggling to learn, that having faith in God is having faith in his timing as well. You'd think I would know this by now, especially after the miraculous events that took place with Myles' birth.
I learned that had I had our little girl the previous week (like I had wanted) I probably wouldn't have gotten a room. They had so many deliveries that there were no vacant rooms and women were being doubled up on rooms on a totally different floor.
Anyway, I couldn't have asked for a better labor or birth. I ended up delivering in the same exact room that I delivered Rhaevyn in 10 years ago. Amazing. What we started we ended in room 129, same month too. Who would have thought?
Anyway, thanks to everyone for their congratulations.
And a big thanks to the Hunt family who came and watched the girls and Myles, did laundry and made sure we had a cleaned house to come home to. We truly feel blessed.
Here are some pictures of our sweet baby girl.
Elsa Mae Lindsay
Born Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 3:10 am
Weight: 8 lbs 12 oz
Length: 21 inches
This is the nurse I had when I delivered Rhaevyn.
She is part of the family now, after 10 years.
Her birthday and Rhaevyn's are a day apart.
The kids came to see Elsa on Tuesday afternoon.
This is the beautiful bouquet that Aeva brought for me.
They were all so ecstatic to see and hold the baby.
Time to go home.
Home.

Myles giving baby Elsa a love.

Rhaevyn is currently off on her birthday date with Chris. I will post birthday pictures next time.
We are currently awaiting the arrival of our personal chef, and his lovely wife, for the weekend.
