Washington State History Museum

Here are a few pictures of our visit to the Washington State History Museum last Wednesday.
We had a great time looking at all the history that has taken place in our state.

To preface the video.....
Uncle Matt and Keaka stopped in for a quick visit while checking into Portland State University and on their way down to California. It was great to visit with them for a bit.
Also, I took the girls to a local art show. Their painting was being exhibited, so I took two photos of them standing next to it. It was really a lot of fun, and it is amazing how much talent there is in our community. The girls each got to vote for their favorite piece of art work. I, of course, voted for the painting of them.....how could that not be my favorite?
Uncle Matt treated the kids to a ride on the carousel and ice cream. What is more fun than that?
You will be able to tell what flavor Myles got!

OMSI Field Trip

On Thursday the kids and I had a field trip to OMSI. We have been trying to plan a trip there for quite some time and finally were successful in getting there. My best friend was gracious to help plan the trip and get us in for free with her membership.
The kids had such a great time. They enjoyed all the hands-on activities, and they especially loved the exhibit of how babies develop in the womb as well as the Egyptian exhibit.
There is so much to do there, and we just couldn't pack it all into one day, so we have plans to go back each month.

I can't believe it is April already.
We are on the down hill slide for the school year.
I just finished up my home school class, and now it is time to think about a little break, Scantron testing, state testing and semester tests. I know it will fly by. Then it is time to think about our plan for school next year (curriculum mainly).
Hoping you are all enjoying Spring. I love all the pink popcorn on the trees and the flowers in bloom, but I don't love the allergies that come with it so much.

Wow! I had a lot of pictures.
These are really just random pictures or videos that either I took or the kids took.
The ones of Elsa dancing are taken by the older girls. I think they live to dress her up and put on music for her to dance to. She is like their personal little miniature entertainer.

We donned green today and went to get our free mint ice cream cones at the local drive-in, O'Brady's. The kids have been counting down the days and now it is finally here.
Myles is already looking forward to the next St. Patrick's day.

Nerf Battle Video

A Little of This & A Little of That

I have so many pictures and video footage to post this week, but not enough time to sit and do it.
I will post these few pictures, and hopefully I will be able to get to the rest (plus footage) this coming week.
We've had a fun week and weekend.
The girls were watching a documentary on tsunamis Thursday afternoon. Who knew we would wake up Friday morning to hear that one had hit Japan and was on its way to the Pacific coast. We watched the local news for a bit to see what would happen when it reached the Oregon Coast.
Then we went to run errands, and the girls picked up some things for making crafts.
The kids were really good, so I treated them to a milkshake and a free appetizer at Red Robin.
That was a lot of fun. Can't get any better than free.
On Saturday Rhaevyn's friend Brooke came over for a play date. They played with the Nerf guns and then made Cake pops. It is so much fun to have giggling girls in the house.
Myles and Chris had a lot of fun playing with the Nerf guns as well.
They were so hilarious to watch.
Once they were done, Aeva wanted a turn to play.
Rhaevyn and I made some more clips. I love putting them in Elsa's hair. She is good to let me get her all dolled up on Sundays. The other days of the week are mostly the same....I get her dressed, and she stays in the outfit for all of five minute, and then off it comes. I have to laugh because it wasn't that long ago Myles was doing the same thing. Kids crack me up!
We've had a bit of sun, and it was nice to be able to open up the windows and get a bit of fresh air in the house.
Today it has been incredibly stormy. It has been a good day to hunker down and watch a movie.

Racing Car, Cookies and Cake

It is March already. In fact a whole week of March is now gone.
Rhaevyn is counting down her Sundays left in Primary, and she is eagerly awaiting
the Sunday she goes into Young Women (I think after today she has five left).

This week the girls had fun making something for Ben, Stacey and Aeva's piano teacher.
I can't post pictures yet, but what they made turned out really cute. Myles made something for Ben, but decided he liked it so much he kept it for himself. He said he'd try and make something else for Ben. I had to chuckle.
I know, Ben and Stacey, I am dangling a carrot in front of you.
You'll just have to wait until we come. And no guessing :)

Friday evening and all day Saturday my best friend and I attended a class to get certified for homeschooling (independently). While I have the credits needed to home-school on my own, I figured this was a good opportunity to learn some new things, get some new ideas, and really know the laws. I have to say I wish I had taken this class seven years ago so I would have known more of the ins and outs and the dos and do nots. I think I would have attempted to do homeschooling on my own a lot sooner instead of going the route of basically doing public school at home.
Oh well, live and learn. I have to look at the bright side and find the silver lining.
At any rate, it has been a wonderful learning opportunity.
Now comes the reading and homework until the next set of classes in April.
I am so excited to be own my own next year.
I've found my "Can do" spirit and confidence :)

Tonight Elsa and Chris made cake for dessert.
Elsa was such a big helper.

I just found these pictures from Valentine's Day.
I think I totally forgot to post them a few weeks ago.
The kids had fun decorating Valentine's cookies and giving them to the neighbor friends.



Here are Aeva and Myles making sure all the pieces were there to their new Lego
set they got after combining their Valentine's Day money from Oma.
Now for the Race Car section.
Myles and Elsa have been giving each other rides around the table on Lightning McQueen.
After four years that little car is still going strong.

Elsa has now figured out how to put her feet up on the car so they don't get hurt.
In this video they were having so much fun, and Elsa kept
laughing so much when she would run into things.
I just had to capture that laugh on video.

She isn't so much the crazy driver any more. She really has the hang
of it and whizzes Myles around the table so fast.
Now they have talked me into giving them rides.
I think they love it because I can go for longer, and I push them faster and pretend to do
make the car drift and tail spin. So much fun!

Snow and Funnies

We have had some snow, off and on, for the last couple of weeks.
It is always so exciting.
I love how quiet and peaceful it seems when the snow is falling, especially at night.
Unfortunately the kids have had colds, so they haven't been able to go out and play in it.
Here are some of the pictures I took of our various snow falls, as well as some video.

Myles got a haircut this week.

He has discovered the Three Stooges.
It is hilarious just watching him watch the show and imitate the noises they make.

Chris was being funny for Elsa last night.
He was playing with a wig from Aeva's doll.
We all got a good laugh.

As always, Elsa keeps us on our toes.

As I search for a word to describe her,

Myles is trying to help me out.

These are the words he came up with: tornado, difficult, explosive.

Oh wait, in the vast recesses of my brain the word has finally came to the front of the line.

Yes, for all her mischievousness, we love her so much and all her antics are worth it because she makes us laugh hourly.

The other day I went to start a load of laundry after I got Elsa situated with her meal.
When I came back into the kitchen, I could hear that she was entertaining herself with her food.

Both Elsa and Myles like to work out with me.

I love it when Myles comes and does jumping jacks with me. Miss Elsa is usually in it for the long haul. I love that they both make the workout more fun! I usually have to stop at some point because they have me in stitches.
I wish laughing toned ones muscles and made one lose weight :)

Creativity

The Creative juices are flowing at the Lindsay household.

Myles has discovered the "Big Kid" Legos.
Most days he can be found locked in the girls' room and occupying his time with Aeva's Legos.
Aeva has been pretty generous with her Legos, and she has even been so wonderful as to put time aside after school to sit and build things with Myles. We have had a bit of a problem when it comes to Myles taking the Legos out of her room. Aeva doesn't want the pieces lost, and that is understandable. After two weeks of her frustration with Myles not following that rule, I broke down and bought him a tub of his very own Legos. Let me just say it was money well spent. Now all three of them build together for hours on end.
Rhaevyn attended New Beginnings with Chris on Wednesday.
This is for all the girls at church who will be turning 12 this year and entering Young Women's this year.
I can't believe my little Rhaevyn will be a Beehive in about 8 weeks.
Where has that time gone? She just turned 8. I remember thinking to myself "Oh I have four years until she turns 12" And now here we are 4 year later. I think I only blinked, and that four years went by.
Anyway, she had a wonderful time at New Beginnings and came home on cloud nine.

Both Aeva and Rhaevyn have been busy making things to sell. They want a way to earn money since we don't do allowances. They came up with the idea to make things to sell.
We haven't actually decided or figured out exactly how or where we are going to do that yet.
Here are some pictures of what they have made so far.

We tried to get Elsa to be our model, but she was too interested in that job.
Aeva also made some blank note cards.
I have finished a few books that I was reading.
Some I have been wanting to read for a very long time (we are talking since high school).
That would be Little Women, Good Wives and Little Men.
I laughed, I cried, and I loved every minute of my reading. I was not disappointed, but wished I had not waited so long to read them.
It is amazing how accomplished it makes me feel to have finally done that.
I picked up a book at Desseret Book on the clearance rack. I mainly bought it because I liked the picture on the front.
Anyway, it turns out that the author had written another book of which I saw a movie that was based on it. I absolutely loved the movie (The Railway Children). Both books were written about 100 years ago and were absolutely sweet and enduring.
I am currently reading Pride and Prejudiced and The 7 habits of Highly Effective Teenagers.
When I am not reading and doing all the other things around here that keep me busy, I am watching documentaries to my hearts content on Netflix (thanks again Ben and Stacey!!!!).
Ah, well I think that is all the updating from these parts.
