Bountiful and The Tracy Aviary

Before we left Washington we made a list of what everyone wanted to do and see on our trip. We all came up with some great memory making ideas. 

We arrived in Bountiful, Utah around 3:30 pm. We took a nice stroll around the Bountiful Temple and took pictures through the gate. A nice gentleman who lives directly across the street from the temple came over to talk to us and explained that the temple would be closed until mid-September because they are redoing the reflection pool. The last time I was at this temple it was being built. I was hoping to show the kids what a beautiful sight it is overlooking the valley below, but there was a great deal of haze and smoke from the fires.

 

 The kids got a lot of swimming in during our trip and thoroughly enjoyed every minute that they were allowed to be fish!

On Monday morning we went to the Church History Museum. I had wanted to do this six years ago, but we ran out of time. This trip it was my one "must". It was quite interesting learning to pay for parking using our phone, and we got encouragement from a small group of Senior Citizens who were also trying to figure it out.

We were imagining life if we lived in a small cabin like this. Could we make it work???

 I didn't take very many pictures in the museum. I just wanted to enjoy it. Some of the kids weren't too sure about it before going, but afterwards I got a thumbs up from all of them. I think they liked all the interactive exhibits. I really, really loved the five minute movie at the beginning of the self guided tour.
Meg was exploring all the places Joseph Smith hid the plates for safety.

 Chris liked these prescription sunglasses that belonged to Hyrum Smith. He wanted a picture for our Eye Doctor.

I have not been to the Church History Museum since I was a teenager when my Aunt Ruth took me. One of my favorite exhibits was Orson Pratt's Odometer. It has since gotten an upgrade from when I visited the museum long ago, but it is still just as fascinating to me. 

After the museum we also visited the Church Distribution Center (Aeva), Seoul Market in Murray (Rhaevyn) and a DI. We went to dinner at In N Out. We were all looking forward to this. It was a must on our list since we don't have one here. Poor Meg was beyond hungry. Chris and I took turns waiting outside with her while our order was being prepared as she had alerted me that she was going to get sick 😓 and she did.

 The Korean workers in the store were super nice and were speaking Korean to Rhaevyn.

Finally, food for Meg!!!

 Chris decided to try the "animal style", but decided once he finished it he really still needed a hamburger.

Myles's "must" was visiting an aviary. He loves birds!! Monday night we went to the Tracy Aviary. It was nice that after 5pm it is $5 per person. I would never have guessed there was an aviary situated in a peaceful park in Salt Lake City. It was a lovely way to spend Monday evening as a family.
