Lots Going On

I don't have a whole lot of pictures from this week.
I've been busy buying material. I want to thank all those who are helping with quilts in anyway shape and form. From actually making quilts to giving me coupons for fabric to monetary donations and even donations of new sheets to use. I think this week I used roughly 10-14  60% off coupons at Joanns. I now have enough material for 8 quilts plus batting for 5. This week I am going over to a friend's house to start cutting squares. I may bag some of them up and see if any Relief Society sisters just want to sew them together for me.
I was able to talk to the lady that would be in charge of giving the quilts to moms at the hospital. She said she would give a rough estimate of at least 30 quilts minimum a year that would be needed if I was going to keep this ongoing. I would love to do this. I will see after August if I could get between 30-60 women to commit to one quilt. I've already got one lady who said she'd be game for that. It's a lot to think about.

Onto other things.................
Elsa got her hair cut this week. She totally loves short hair :)

 

 On Monday we had a nice surprise of cinnamon rolls from a family in our old ward................which existed a week ago, but doesn't now. We were split and combined with another ward in Battle Ground. So now we have a first and second ward. Sunday was actually pretty exciting and not as chaotic as I thought it would be. I won't be teaching Rhaevyn's class anymore. We are so small that we only have two Sunday School classes. I have the younger group. No one really has callings yet. We were all just filling in where we were asked to help out, but they assured me yesterday that they thought that is where they would keep me. I'm jazzed, although, I am not sure Aeva is.

Thursday and Friday night and most of Saturday we watched my best friend's youngest, Toby, while she was at the hospital having her baby. He and Meg are about a year apart. They were super cute together. We must have the magic bed over here because he slept through the entire night both nights. My friend said she'd be sending him over here to sleep :) I got to go hold her new bundle when he was just half an hour old; straight from heaven. It was bittersweet. Her husband was so sweet to take the kids for a bit to get something to eat and my friend and I sat as I rocked her bundle of joy. We just cried together. I did better the second day when I took two of her children to the hospital to see the baby. She just was super sweet to let me rock her sweet one for about 45 minutes. I think, although at first it was hard, it was such a tender moment. Saturday marked two months since we delivered our sweet baby.

This week and next the girls are working on the local high school play. I think Aeva is having second thoughts. They will be out until at least 10pm. I am not sure she will sign up to work on another play. Aeva is going to be an usher with her friend, and Rhaevyn is doing hair and makeup.

Myles, Elsa, and Chris worked on our garden this past week. I am hoping it lasts and the rabbits don't eat it all.

I can't believe we are into May already. This is a busy month for Chris with my birthday, mother's day, and our anniversary. Bring on the celebrations :)

A Few More Prom Pictures

It's so hard to take pictures without little ones photo bombing them They were so excited about Rhaevyn going to Prom and wanted to be able to be right there watching everything.
She had a really great time. She walked in the door around 11 last night with a big smile when I asked if she had a great time. I loved watching Andy open the car door for her and walk her up to the front door. I told Chris that I kept thinking, when I was helping her get ready, that one day this will be me helping her get ready for her wedding, not a Prom. Time, slow down!!!

From Toes to a Recital

Rhaevyn and Chris arrived home on Monday.
Rhaevyn had a magnificent time at Ben and Stacey's. In fact she lit up every time she talked about her time spent there.
Stacey took her shopping and to get her toes done among other things.
We were all excited to have them back though.............we missed them.

She  got back just in time to practice her violin and then it was off to her recital.
She played Ashoken Farewell, which is one of my all time favorite songs.
Her teacher was saying how Rhaevyn is always choosing songs that are not ordinary or classical, and maybe next time she should have all her students do that.
I've already go a request in for her next recital song.

I just love this picture of Meg. She saw this bowl on the floor and just decided to sit in it. When I went to take the picture she fell over.

And that about wraps it up for now.

LDS Prom

I can't believe Prom is here and almost gone.
Rhaevyn and I had a blast doing her hair, makeup, and fingernails.
We did a trial run on hairdos the night before and neither one was very successful.
I had success on the first try with her hair today.  Yeesssss!!
We laughed so much while getting her ready.
I couldn't stop staring at her after we had dolled her up and she had donned her dress.
I kept thinking....................................
wait she was just this little girl with a little dimple and an infectious smile that lit up the room....

.... and now she's this beautiful young lady with a gorgeous smile and bright eyes.

 I am not sure where that time went but it made me catch my breath, and I had to hold back the tears.

She picked out a really pretty headband for her hair.

 Her date for the prom, Andy, arrived with the corsage and boutonniere. His mom was nice to put the order in for both at the same time and pick them up.


 





Here they are just before making a dash under the umbrella for the car. It was pouring rain! Andy's mom and I were their chauffeur and chaperones to the Olive Garden.


 
They sat us at opposite ends of the restaurant which was good. They are both kind of quiet, and we didn't want us moms doing all the talking.

I'm super excited to hear how Prom went.

Sweet 16

We contemplated a long time of what to do for Rhaevyn's sweet 16 birthday.
Ben and Stacey were awesome to totally be in on our surprise.
Her surprise was a weekend up to Ben and Stacey's. Chris was going too, but the deal was he had to be invisible. 
Thursday we told all the kids we were going to Fort Vancouver because we had such beautiful weather. We got almost to the train station and sat for 10 minutes because a freight train was blocking the entrance. We were getting a bit nervous because the train they were going on was due in 10 minutes. Luckily we made it in time.
Rhaevyn was so surprised. We had even packed for her!They come back tomorrow.

After dropping Chris and Rhaevyn off I took the kids to Fort Vancouver and the tiny air museum next to it. Yesterday Myles had a hike for cub scouts and cooked hotdogs and s'mores. I decided while he was gone to take the girls over to Wilco, and we looked at bunnies and baby chicks. Meg thought that was wonderful. When I got home I thought I'd be industrious and mow the lawn. Our neighbor boy next door took pity on me and came to mow it. He didn't want any payment. It was so nice and very appreciated. Lucky for him after he finished the front the mower ran out of gas. He was spared doing the back.

Last night I took them all out for ice cream. It has helped to get out and about because they are all missing Rhaevyn and Chris so much.

I'm super excited about Project Mother of an Angel Baby. I've got a Facebook page for it now. I submitted it to Justserve.org and am awaiting approval. I've got several women, even from California and Idaho, that have said they'd help out. I posted a flyer at several businesses in town, as well as JoAnns. Two ladies, one being my friend, said they'd share it with their church and quilting circles. I could never imagine doing this in a million years, and feel that Heavenly Father is really helping this to happen.

I purchased some material for quilts. Can't wait to get started.


I've been putting together a book about my journey through losing our sweet baby. It has pictures, quotes, conference talks, messages from family and friends, and sweet notes from the kids. It has really been fun to make. It has brought many smiles, a few tender tears, and amazement of how much I have learned.

Super Excited

So, I have felt impressed to make a quilt to donate to the hospital. I guess maybe it feels like I'm paying it forward. I received one, so I want to make one for another mom that has lost a baby. When I went to the hospital on Monday, they said that they don't specifically have a supply for mothers of angel babies. It came to me last night......................this is what I want to do:
