Grandpa and Grandma Came to Visit

We had a wonderful visit from Christopher's parents.
We all enjoyed getting to spend time with them.
Rhaevyn got to play a game of Chess with Grandpa, and I think Grandpa was winning.
Aeva played several rounds of 94 Seconds with Grandma and really loved that.

Myles, Elsa, and Meg had lots of fun with Ebony. They couldn't get enough of him. Myles let Grandma know that if she was in need of anyone to take care of Ebony to give him a call.
Miss Meg so badly wanted to hold Ebony. The littles had some races with Ebony to see how fast they all could run. They'd start at one side of the house, round the corner, and run the length of the cement pavement in the backyard.  They were all laughing when Ebony was jumping up and down like he had springs in his legs. Meg was giggling hysterically.

We went up to Lucia Falls. We got to see some fish trying to jump up the waterfall.

After Myles showed everyone he let it go.

 
 Myles and Elsa had fun in the pool with Grandma. She helped Myles to try and float on his back.

 

 

 

 

Chris and I really enjoyed going to the Portland Temple with them. What a treat!
I brought the camera so that we could get a picture of all of us outside the temple, but then I totally forgot about it until we were halfway home. 

We sent them off with goodbye waves and kisses from the yard and wished they didn't have to go.
Thanks for coming and spending time with us..............it was wonderful!!!

 

And I can't end just on that note.........I have to put a picture of Miss Meg. Here she is in Aeva's mask. She laughs when she comes up to me with it on and I act totally scared and surprised.

Our Remembrance Tree's First Rose

Our little Remembrance Tree started out as just a twig......... 

................................................and now the first rose has bloomed.

Middle of June

This week................

I was able to get two more quilt tops done.
I am really learning more about quilting than I ever thought I would.

 

 

 I did put one quilt together, but the machine that I was using was not cooperating, and I tried to have a positive attitude about just keeping it because I could not in good conscience use it for my project. One of my sweet visiting teachers saw it. She said that it was much too cute  not to use it. She has me talked into ripping out all the stitching and then giving it to her to finish on her long arm. So, looks like I'll be having fun in front of the TV with my seam ripper. I know it will be work, but I felt better after she said it could be saved.
Here is a picture of Meg helping me sew. This is where she is a good amount of time when she wakes up from her nap before I've finished sewing. She's a good little helper.

Aeva baked us some Red Lobster biscuits.
I also was a personal shopper for her. I think I would like having that job. I stopped at the local consignment shop with Rhaevyn. I picked out about 20 items and called Aeva to see if she would be up to at least taking a look. She agreed to keep an open mind, and I took her over . I think I did pretty good considering that she liked 16 of the items and 6 of them actually fit. All in all  think it was a success.
 
 




Myles has been my waterer lately, as well as my zucchini watcher. We picked our first one yesterday, and I can't wait to try it.
 
 He wanted to camp out in the back yard Friday night. He and Chris got out the cots and set up the tent. They lasted until about 5am when Chris awoke to Myles chattering his teeth. They sauntered back into the warm house, and Myles made himself some warm oatmeal.










The kids watched My Fair Lady for the first time, and Elsa decided that if you are dressed up while watching it it is much more fun.

Rhaeyvn is done with Chemistry. She is so excited!!! I must say she it has been a good experience for her. She 's made some new friends and had a wonderful teacher. Rhaevyn did a great job at making sure her assignments were done on time, she got help when she needed it, and kept on track with her studying. She did much better than I ever did in that subject.

I've made a summer bucket list for the kids and me, and I hope to fit everything in with the kids in between girls camp, EFY, and cub camp.

Here she is at one of her favorite spots, the computer. She has learned to scale the chair in a matter of seconds. She has also learned to climb up onto the top bunk bed in Myles's room. Boy is she quick at it. 

She is really adept at finding any writing untensil that has not been put in its proper place. She loves to plant her art on walls and the refrigerator. I was going to put a big piece of butcher paper on the fridge, but realized we were out. I think this worked just as well.....

Lastly, a sweet little story..........
I got out the little book I made for Our Sweet Baby. Meg sat and looked at it with me. When I got to the page with a picture of baby she kept trying to hold and cradle the baby's picture in her hands. It was absolutely precious.

Summer Has Arrived

It's been a great week.
I made seven layer jello, which I have not made in some time. It was gone in a day.
Can you tell it is a favorite around here?

We had our first broccoli from our garden. Myles and Elsa were so excited to eat it. It was gone as soon as we cut it.

I completed three quilt tops and now get to put them together starting this next week. I hope to get two more tops done this week. One of my dear friends that has been helping me cut the material surprised me with a belated birthday present. She bought me a quilting ruler, rotary cutter, and a gridded cutting mat. I knocked one quilt top out in one evening after opening her present. She also taught me some valuable information that I had to use the very next day on a border. What a blessing.

Myles is taking care of four polliwogs. He is enjoying watching them grow. He has given them each a name: Polliwag, Brock, Myles, and Kirby . We are hoping we can keep them alive. Myles was given the job of vacuuming the kitchen the other night and he somehow roped Meg into helping him. He took pictures of his success at getting her to vacuum for him.

Yesterday I helped Rhaevyn with her summer bucket list; I was thinking I need to make one of those.

I was going through some stuff the other day and came across some composition books that had ugly covers, so I spruced them up a bit.

And as usual, I'll end with some pictures of Miss Meg. Her hair is starting to curl even more.
